The SBR brace ban is upon us, and with that comes more red tape and circular arguments that lead us down a rabbit hole without a solution. As someone who opposes the ban on pistol braces, this law (if it doesn’t get thrown out or repealed) will not have any effect on the reduction of death or gun crimes.
How many Americans own a brace currently? estimates are anywhere from 3-7 million in the US alone. That being said, only a fraction will actually be willing to follow through with the $200 registration from the ATF. The proposed ban on pistol braces would effectively make these firearms illegal without registration for many people, which is not only unfair but also is in direct violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
As per usual, this is just another attempt at chipping away your 2nd amendment rights. The government should not be able to dictate what firearms or firearm accessories I can put on my guns. The argument is that pistol braces are “easily concealable” and increase the probability of close proximity violence. There is no credible evidence that banning the brace will reduce crime involving SBRs. Simply put, the brace is not part of the gun that kills people.
A factor that folks outside the gun industry forget is the economic downturn due to this ban. Many companies have invested millions of dollars in designing and producing pistol braces, and a ban would result in lay-offs and profits lost to another worthless law. Let’s not forget about you, the consumer, and how this law puts you squarely in the crosshairs of the government which always paints law-abiding citizens as the next terrorist threat, now having to choose if they want to be labeled a criminal or a comply with the overlords of our once great nation
This SBR Brace ban will hopefully be overturned, and fast. So many of us have been put in this position before, and like always, we are here to face the challenge and take this fight to Washington. We will continue to stand with a fellow patriots in this fight against Tyranny from our Government.
